A self-inking stamp works like a printing machine, and is a portable mechanism. It can mark the same image in a repetitious way and is clear, saving money and time. Some  people refer to it as a rubber stamp, but they are modern. This post tells you the things to know about self-inking stamps.

What makes self-inking stamps different?

A self-inking stamp is superior to other types of ink. It has ink in the body. It is tucked away in a metal way so you don’t spread ink on your self. You can go often with your ink pad. It saves some time. You can use a self-inking stamp in a fast way, and it is simple to use. Place it where you want the stamp to be.

Press it down gently in contact with the paper, press it harder and hold it for sometime on your paper. Release it and then spring it back. Self-inking stamps can be more cost efficient than traditional stamps if you add labour cost in making out paper bags.

What can you use a self-inking stamp for?

You can apply a graphic file and imagination to your self-ink stamp. There are many uses of a custom self-inking stamp. Below are what you can do with it.

  • Numberers: They are known as Numberer stamps. The stamps have a band with only numbers like date stamps. Some of them have symbols like dollar sign, hyphen, full stop etc. Stamps like the professional grade Trodat can use bands changed to letters, that’s half the alphabet, either N-Z or A-M. There are Numberers that are automatic in which the number is changed each time you add stamp automatically.

What are the main parts of a self-inking stamp?

Such stamps are made with 3 major components combined in a fast and convenient unit which are:

Ink pad (that are replaced)

  • Text plate or rubber die
  • Outside case
  • The outside case

This part has 2 parts inside. You can fix the ink pad in place as the rubber die is on a particular plate which performs a trapeze for each time, spinning the rubber die above from the ink pad to its paper in a smooth movement. Such stamps can be made of 3 primary shapes which are rectangular shape, square rubber and round rubber stamps. Each of such stamps can be of different sizes. The stamps can be little 12×12 mm square rubber stamps that are suitable for loyalty cards or professional grade stamps that has a steel frame like that of the Trodat 5212 Machine of 116 x 70 mm. You can select self-inking stamps or the size to choose  the model you want to make.

Ink pads

Ink pad refers to the ink source. You can top of or replace the ink pad using stamp ink. It comes with various colours like violet, green, red, blue and black. Each of the stamp model has an ink pad and the pads can involve many models. The ink works with foam or felt on the inside. The ink is inside the pad when you get the stamp. Its standard ink is water-based. It is suitable for cardboard or paper, not for steel, glass or plastic.

Text plate or rubber die

This is the part of the stamp that stamps on the paper. Use laser and sheet rubber to engrave the custom picture perceivable on the rubber and the laser cut it to fit the stamp model you choose to do this requires a high quality image. A vector image is predictable and superior. The image should be RGB black. Once you get the image, it moves with less wastage. You can cut the rubber well. It is fantastic for your minute details. The font size should not be too thin or too small for a stamping that is reliable. You can change the image for a better result. Mount the rubber die in your double-sided tap. Your rubber stamp is replaceable.
